Work package 3 is led by Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI.
Work Package 3 will provide a systematic overview of critical raw materials and the current possibilities for substitution to answer questions such as where are critical raw materials used and what are current and possible viable substitutes. Also covered will be an analysis of EU and national policies that can influence activities in the field of substitution of critical raw materials (e.g. which countries have a policy on critical raw materials and what does it say about substitution? Is research funding available)? The results of the Work Package are useful for identifying relevant applications and ultimately companies and research institutions to participate in the Pole of Excellence.
